In this world people are always going to say things that offend us, it's part of being a grown-up. This
absurd idea that the answer to speech that offends us is infantilize, censor and thought police is
dangerous. Have we learn't nothing from history? The answer to speech we hate is more speech. It
always has been and always will be.
feel a lot of commenters claiming that some great injustice has occurred because people would rather
block hate speech than engage in lively debate with them probably have never suffered too greatly from
it themselves.
I enjoyed the bit in in history where the Nazis were talked into submission. When slave traders had their
ear metaphorically chewed off and decided that they were in fact in the wrong.
I'm not saying violence or whatever is good, but at the same time there's almost no reasoning with hate.
You can sit down and try and explain why killing all the Jews or immigrants is a bad thing, but by trying to
discuss these vile far right views you also validate them by recognising them.
In the same way that every time a newspaper or news show reports on every action of neo-nazis and
fascists, plastering them across headlines.

 

We are drowning in books...I don't usually buy unless a sale, but I have accumulated way too many books...so many of them I intend on reading again, just like I pretend one day soon, I will work out and get back in good shape.

Each generation loses some core values in life, blame it on many reasons, cause there are. As time goes on only those who have been around a while will see it is true. Once in a while others get a glimpse of this sad phenomenon. Intelligence is not inherited.

I feel sad for Priscilla Presley. Lisa Marie, the daughter she had with Elvis, passed away at the age of 54. So far, the cause of death is only 'cardiac arrest'. I only know of her because she showed up on the media radar in the 80s, but I forget why.

I feel bad for her mother tonight.

I have been spending a lot of time at my son's house. Where I have come under frequent attack by my two youngest grand kids and their nerf guns. They have about a dozen of them and probably 1,000 darts. But for some reason I always got stuck with the little single shot pistol. And they wiped me out

So just before my birthday I walk into Walmart and right by the door is an assault weapon looking nerf gun that is an 8 shot revolver. I had to have it. And right after eating cake and ice cream on my birthday I opened my presents saving that one for last. I had it pre locked and loaded unwrapped it and said "say hello to my little friend" and opened fire on them. Kicking off another nerf war but this time I had superior firepower.

And from then on it was kind of like the old days because I kept that gun loaded and within easy reach fighting off multiple attacks over the next several days.

Then the other day my son and daughter in law took the kids to a bigger city so they could spend some of their Christmas money and when they got back the first thing I heard was "Now say hello to MY little friend." And my grandson opened fire on me. He was hiding behind the couch and I fired my first 8 shots and reloaded another eight and all the time I was still under withering fire one shot after the other. I was reduced to grabbing darts off the flore trying to reload feeling like a Russian under fire by the Ukrainians And still he kept shooting until finally I waved a white flag saying I give up show grandpa what you've got.

Whoever heard of a nerf gun with a 40 shot drum?

They will be home from school soon and it will be war. But this time it will be a running battle. I might not have a 40 shot drum but I do have all the other nerf guns loaded and stashed all over the basement and they will have to get grandpa on running shots.

 

We used to stare at the stars in the sky...big and bright. You can hardly see any now-a-days. Fucking light pollution from Houston has ruined the night sky.
